One of the treasured aspects of living on the East End is the free and open use of our ocean and bay beaches. Residents have always enjoyed the unfettered right to stroll, swim, fish, shellfish and surf at our beaches. In response to two lawsuits in which private individuals are claiming to own the ocean beach at Napeague, CfAR has come together to support the Trustees, the Town Board and any other governmental body which is willing to oppose the privatization of our beaches. CfAR is not affiliated with any political party and its sole objective is the preservation of our right to enjoy local beaches, one of our most valuable assets, to the fullest extent possible.

OUR MISSION
- To protect ALL forms of public access to our beaches and preserve the rights and traditions enjoyed by residents since colonial times
- To inform the public about attempts to restrict free and open access to our beaches through privatization or eliminating access
- To lobby for legislation and government actions that support our goals and objectives
- To ensure that full access and recreational opportunities are open to the greatest number of people, not just the priveleged few
- To promote and encourage proper stewardship of our beaches and coastal waters
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
- SPREAD THE WORD! THE MORE MEMBERS THE BETTER!
- Encourage your friends, family and colleagues to visit our Facebook page - "Citizens for Access Right" and click on the "like" icon. We have strength in numbers!
- Write to your local media outlets and politicians, expressing your support for maintaining open beach access and against any privatization of our beaches.
- Become a member of CfAR and show your support of public beach access. The annual membership fee is $20 per member 18 years of age and over. Junior members under 18 years of age are free. All paid members whose primary residence is in the Town of East Hampton will have voting rights. . Fill out the membership application and mail in to the address below. All members are entitled to CfAR stickers, which will be mailed to members, to display your support on your vehicle. Donated funds are used for operating costs of CfAR and surplus funds will be donated to the Town Trustees for stewardship of local beaches. Larger donations are accepted. CfAR is a not for profit organization.
